Procrastination.

Here I am, sitting.
I'm supposed to be doing my summer math homework.
I haven't even touched it today.

Here I am, sitting, surfing the web.
I'm supposed to be cleaning my room.
Even though I did yesterday, it's not quite finished.

Here I am, sitting, surfing the web, chatting with friends.
I'm supposed to be washing my dishes from lunch.
I haven't even put them in the sink.

Here I am, sitting, surfing the web, chatting with friends, PROCRASTINATING.
& it's a damn shame.

Why do so many people chose to procrastinate? Because we're lazy, because we don't want to do any work, because we don't want to get ahead in life? We do it so many times, and we know the consequences, so why keep doing it? I'm sure many people don't get a thrill out of the anxiety or stress tied to procrastination? As Edward Young said, “Procrastination is the thief of time.” - (1683-1765) Think about that. Well, I'm going to go stop procrastinating and begin my math. Isn't that a wonder?

Making Summer Count; Day Twelve

It's so hard to post sometimes, because I choose to post late at night... And by the time I post, I can't actually remember the morning. So I have to really, really search my memory to give you guys an accurate review of my day. Gosh. Well, that's how it's going to be, because I'm not changing my ways. :]

Okay, my mom bought me this new book yesterday, Dancing in the Fire. It's set in 19th century Paris- specifically, the Paris Opera House. There's a little ballerina. Her name is Sylvie. I'm not extremely far in the book, but I'm far enough to know she's finally starting to have the life she's always dreamed as far as ballet, but now it's only going downhill because of the war with Prussia. It seems really good!

If you don't know, I'm in love with the 19th century. I love the art, the clothes, the whole essence. It's my favorite time period! Well, 1800s-1930s. (My second favorite is when the dinosaurs existed. :) ) And it isn't only the 19th century America, but world-wide. It was lovely. I guess that's a suckish time period for me to like, though. Because I'm black, and that's the time period during slaves. I've never really thought about the 19th century like that until I was talking to a friend earlier, and she was like, "I hope you don't like 19th century AMERICA." I knew what she was implying immediately, but still... It was kind of a shock. I wasn't expecting that, because whenever I daydreamed about the 19th century, slavery never came up. If I'm honest, I never daydreamed about southern America. It was always New York, or England, or France... I won't let this little oil spill over my dream, though. And that's the snag, you know? Many times, I would have a really cool thought, aspiration, image going for me in my head. I'd be really into it, the thought. It'd have the tiniest embellishments of a bigger beauty, until someone comes around and says something to me that'd ruin it all. The grandeur of the dream would be crushed, and I'd forever rue the moment I revealed my personal dreams. Somethings you should keep to yourself.

I'm also really into ballerinas! Every time I go to see a ballet, during the whole performance I wonder how different my life would be if I'd stuck to ballet. The girls who do it still are so beautiful, and graceful, and elegant. They're wonderful to watch. :] I think I'm actually going to purchase a tutu. Don't make me regret telling you guys that. Isn't that a wonder?

Have fun you guys, and enjoy life.

Love it? Hate it? Comment, follow, share with friends! :)

Making Summer Count; Day Four

Today, a lot happened. Some of it was really exciting, some was heart wrenching, and some? Some isn't even worth the tale.

This morning, I woke up to my mom bursting in my room to tell me to get up. She wanted to get to the DDS early to get my permit. This was an event I was VERY excited about... until I physically got in the car and my mom began driving. I was NOT prepared to take the test. I didn't feel like I studied enough, so I chickened out. I asked my mom to turn around and take me home. When we got home, I immediately turned to the computer for comfort. I began to play FreeCell like I usually do, and I began to chat with a friend, Semere. I told him about my fears of taking the test, and he comforted me that everyone get scared about tests. He said that I should just knock it out of the park, and that's what I ended up doing. After a few more hours of studying, distracting myself with Facebook and FreeCell, and posting a post to my blog, I went back to the DDS. I ended up passing my permit test. :) Moral of the story? It's ok to be nervous about the steps of life, but you can't let your fears hold you back from doing the things you want to do. So the next time there's a daring move you want to take, take it. :) You can do it. I have faith in you!

Before I posted this morning, I learned something new. The subject today was clouds! They're a beautiful thing, don't you think? In the sky idly floating along... There's a website called Learn Something New Everyday. I'm new to lsned.com. Today was my first day reading a post, and the most recent one was about clouds. It basically retaught me what I learned in 5th grade, but I needed it. I looked over past posts, and if I keep up with this site, I'll learn about Greek mythology, clowns, Einstein, and much more! I want to be quite the intellectual. :)

Today, I also learned that it is possible for me to not have a panic attack over a guy. I'm actually really hurt right now. There's this guy that I really liked. You've heard of him, Paul. I almost said aloud that I loved him. At my birthday party, he nibbled my ear, and I thought that gesture from him was really special. I felt really, really EPIC! But then I found out today that that wasn't special at all, because he was at a party Sunday, and at the party he was kissing up on one of my dearest, dearest friends, and when he was done with her, his ass crawled over to the other two girls there! UGH! So, I don't feel special at all. That was heart wrenching. I thought I meant something special to him... Guess not. Well, I won't be hurt over this for long, though. Why would I want a guy like that? Am I just saying that, though? If he puts out his hand, will I take it? These questions are hard to answer like this. Now isn't THAT a wonder?

C'est la Vie. Good Night. :)
