Review: Eclipse Soundtrack

The Eclipse Soundtrack. It's a terrific soundtrack. Most of the songs on this soundtrack has this hard ass vibe that makes you want to throw on your leather jacket and throw your fist in the air, and take advantage of your youth. It has upbeat songs you'd just want to get up and dance to, music you'd want to listen to while sharing an intimate moment with a loved one, and music you'd simply want to cry to. The soundtrack has so many emotions thrown at you. The melodies and lyrics engulfs you and takes over you, and before you know it, you're sitting there wondering what you just did for the last hour and a half. I get a lost feeling -sometimes also a yearning- while listening to one of the songs off the album, and the feeling lingers until many hours later.

For a dancing song, I'd go with "Ours" by The Bravery. From the beginning to the end, the song gives you the influence of wanting to go out and get high off the idea that you're young and you're entitled to go party hard & make the best of it. The opening lyrics, "After tonight, who knows where we'll be tomorrow/What if we're never here again?" gets your attention quickly, and the songs lets you know that this time is OURS.

"Let's Get Lost" by Beck and the Bat for Lashes. The song that makes me want to take my lover by the hand and runaway. It influences you to come up with so many ideas and fantasies in your head. To just have a good time.

The song "My Love" by Sia is moving, touching, and always makes my heart heavy. The metronome that takes its time for the lyrics to seep in your thoughts... the way she sings it. I can't decipher the words due to her very loose pronunciation, and these qualities are what makes this song one of the best love songs I've heard in a long time. I always feel like I should be crying when this song comes on, just because I'm a sucker for love.

If you haven't heard the soundtrack yet, you should really change that. Even if you're not into the Twilight scene, these songs will move you. Isn't that a wonder? :)

Have fun you guys, and enjoy life.

Making Summer Count; Day Thirty Eight

Ok, I'm in higher spirits than I was before. That means more frequent posting!

Today I packed for a six day, five night trip to Florida. :) I'm leaving Wednesday, and today I got crazy excited. For the first time. Haha. I packed probably four outfits too many and 7 pairs of underwear too many. Well, actually, you can't have too many pairs of underwear. :) Either way, my suitcase is full, and I'm not even finished packing! Well, that's what happens when you're a girl like me.

I finished reading Dear John a couple of weeks ago. It was good... I liked it, except for the fact that I was majorly depressed when I finished it. It was sweet, granted, but still saddening. The part that really hit me was Johns' fathers' death. Only seven people attended the funeral, including John. "It broke my heart-absolutely broke it into a million pieces-that in all the world, only these people had seen the worthiness of my dad." That so depressing.

Savannah also had a lot of inspiring, and honest outlooks about life. For example, when she was talking about passions. She says," The saddest people I've ever met in life are the ones who don't care deeply about anything at all. Passion and satisfaction go hand in hand, and without them, any happiness is only temporary, because there's nothing to make it last."

She also had a very effective passage about struggles during hard times. She says, "When you're struggling with something, look at all the people around you and realize that every single person you see is struggling with something, and to them, it's just as hard as what you're going through." That's so deep, and ever since I read that paragraph, I've been doing that. It helps.

Have a good night, everyone. I still need to get ready for Florida! :) Isn't that a wonder?

Making Summer Count; Day Twelve

It's so hard to post sometimes, because I choose to post late at night... And by the time I post, I can't actually remember the morning. So I have to really, really search my memory to give you guys an accurate review of my day. Gosh. Well, that's how it's going to be, because I'm not changing my ways. :]

Okay, my mom bought me this new book yesterday, Dancing in the Fire. It's set in 19th century Paris- specifically, the Paris Opera House. There's a little ballerina. Her name is Sylvie. I'm not extremely far in the book, but I'm far enough to know she's finally starting to have the life she's always dreamed as far as ballet, but now it's only going downhill because of the war with Prussia. It seems really good!

If you don't know, I'm in love with the 19th century. I love the art, the clothes, the whole essence. It's my favorite time period! Well, 1800s-1930s. (My second favorite is when the dinosaurs existed. :) ) And it isn't only the 19th century America, but world-wide. It was lovely. I guess that's a suckish time period for me to like, though. Because I'm black, and that's the time period during slaves. I've never really thought about the 19th century like that until I was talking to a friend earlier, and she was like, "I hope you don't like 19th century AMERICA." I knew what she was implying immediately, but still... It was kind of a shock. I wasn't expecting that, because whenever I daydreamed about the 19th century, slavery never came up. If I'm honest, I never daydreamed about southern America. It was always New York, or England, or France... I won't let this little oil spill over my dream, though. And that's the snag, you know? Many times, I would have a really cool thought, aspiration, image going for me in my head. I'd be really into it, the thought. It'd have the tiniest embellishments of a bigger beauty, until someone comes around and says something to me that'd ruin it all. The grandeur of the dream would be crushed, and I'd forever rue the moment I revealed my personal dreams. Somethings you should keep to yourself.

I'm also really into ballerinas! Every time I go to see a ballet, during the whole performance I wonder how different my life would be if I'd stuck to ballet. The girls who do it still are so beautiful, and graceful, and elegant. They're wonderful to watch. :] I think I'm actually going to purchase a tutu. Don't make me regret telling you guys that. Isn't that a wonder?

Have fun you guys, and enjoy life.

Making Summer Count; Day Eight

Today was a kickass day. :D I definitely feel a lot better. Better than I have in a few weeks. I'm upbeat. Get ready to learn why!

Mostly, I think I just needed something to do with my life- something that I wanted to do. Something that'd make me feel awesome. :) and I found it. Today, I took a few hours away from the computer, and my mom & I did something different than what we usually do. We set up a little photo shoot, and she took tons of pictures of me. :) That really bumped up my confidence and my mood. It really helped. I feel like a completely new person! So the next time you're kind of in a funk, try this antidote! Put on your favorite t-shirt or those cool new sunglasses you just bought, and take a few pictures of yourself. It's worth a shot!

Isn't that a wonder?

Have fun you guys, and enjoy life.

Making Summer Count; Day Five

Today was a bum out kind of day. I stayed in the house for the most part. The only time I did go out is when I went to take a few still shots of the clouds and the grass. I ended up also taking a few pictures of a bumble bee buzzing around, an alert squirrel, and a chirping birdie. :)

Between the hours of 9 and 11 AM, I drew a picture of a lemur. I know, a very random thing to draw, but I saw a picture of one yesterday. Eyes of a lemur are very cool. They're exciting and bright and alluring. They are very powerful. So I drew a picture of one, and I tried to capture the unique beauty of their eyes. I think that lemurs are becoming my favorite animal. I have the urge to draw more pictures of them. I used the picture above as a guide.

When I was finished with that, I did the most selfless thing I've done in a while. I signed up to be a volunteer at the Center for the Visually Impaired. I've never actually stepped foot inside the place, but I've seen videos they've posted on YouTube. I really like what the company stands for. In life I've met a lot of assholes who think that people with disabilities such as blindness or being deaf are of lesser value than people without disabilities, and that's a horrible way to think. I believe that we're all the same. Granted, our Saviour has designed us in different forms with different patterns, but we are all the same. No person comes above or below the next. Anyways, I'm really excited about volunteering at the center. I'll be doing things like visiting blind people's home to help them with laundry, cook, or read them a book; I'll make telephone calls to people in need just so they could have a companion; I'll get to work with preschool children at the daycare; I'll take photos of special events that we have to get the word out about us; and lastly -the most exciting thing- I'll be partnered up with a buddy my age to serve as a playmate. This all will be really fun. I'm supposed to get notified soon about an upcoming orientation. I hope this goes well. My fingers are crossed. :)

Towards the end of today, I realized that I love people astronomically. (I love that word.) My family, my friends... I'm so glad that we were created with a big enough heart to give love to the whole world. Isn't that a wonder?

Enjoy life, loves. :)

Gedichte. Smiles. and Art Shows.

I take German for my language class. I've been taking it since fourth grade because it's required for the school that I went to. Why my classmates and I didn't take Spanish is still a mystery to me. Since Spanish is the second leading language in the United States, it would have made so much more sense for us to have taken Spanish. When will I go to Germany and try to have a conversation? But let's get off of that note.

In German class today, we read a Gedichte (poem) about a man who knew two women. One was insecure about herself and asked questions such as, "Are my eyes beautiful?" and "Am I the best dancer?" This went on, and the poet answered each question with, "Yes." Until she asked the very forward question, "Do you love me?". He didn't answer. The second lady, was completely different, and asked him questions such as, "Did you hear from your family?" When he answered "no", she became sad. She became happy when he told her that he wasn't lonely. The last line is, "She didn't ask if I loved her." Basically implying that he loved her.**
The thing about this poem, I'm afraid that I would be the first lady! I am a very insecure person, and in class, our German teacher, Frau Kelly, was explaining to us how that wasn't attractive at all. Which of course, only made my self esteem lower! And I sit next to this really hot guy, Travis***, and we're pals. We shared a book today in class, so we were really close. Every time I even thought about shifting closer, this wave came over me, and it was amazing! The only thing: I don't like him. "/ Yeah, I'm extremely attracted to his looks, and he's extremely friendly, but I have my eyes on a bigger prize.

Which brings us to another topic. Tanner James***. He is the most beautiful guy I think I've seen. EVER. (I hope my readers realize there's a difference between "beautiful" and "hot".) Today, he was walking around the cafeteria with a jar for the Malachi fund. When I tried to donate my dollar (unnoticed), it wouldn't fit! It wasn't folded enough times, so I had to set my things down, fold the dollar a couple more times, and force the dollar down. This whole time, my friend, Jazmin, asked how tall he was (6'4"). As we walked away, I turned around to get a final look at him, and he was SMILING at me! It was amazing! Almost as awesome as the very first smile he gave me, which (I must add) was so beautiful, that I shook with happiness and began to cry! (Not in his face, of course. Much too smooth for that.) This time I began to shake, and I teared up, and it was just amazing. ")

Tanner is an artsy guy. He's in Photography, and tonight there's an art show at my school. I really wish I was able to go. I'm pretty sure his art is going to be sold there. The only thing that's stopping me is stupid transportation issues. Sometimes I wish that I could walk everywhere. That everywhere I go was in walking distance. But as for now, it's OK. There will be other chances for me to hang out with him, right? I think that's just how you have to look at life. If one thing doesn't go your way, it's OK to be mad at the world when you first get bad news. That's exactly how I was. I stopped talking to my mom, my breath caught, and I couldn't understand why she didn't have sympathy for me. But after a while, you have to get over it. Her word was final, and I had to deal with it. Plus, it isn't like I had the cash to buy his art. I went holiday shopping this weekend. :) Isn't that a wonder?

**I translated all lines from the poem into English. Since it was German class, the story was in German.
*** Name change.
